SMALL THINGS GROW

Buds come first; then, leaves, you know!
     The mist before the rain!
And saplings into trees did grow;
     The raindrops, seas again!

The nesting first, and then, the bird;
     The seed and then the flower!
The sweetest tunes we ever heard
     Were tones that grew in power!

A step you walked, and then the mile;
     Lived day by day a year!
Your tiny thoughts become a smile;
     Your wish made deeds appear!

Things don't stay small; no more will you;
     When others tease, just smile!
Just work and grow both big and true,
     Until you've grown worth while!
